FAQ
Everything you need to know about Roxzone — from first install to race day.
Getting Started
Is it a subscription or a one-time purchase?
One-time purchase. Pay once and keep it forever — no recurring fees, no annual renewal.
How do I unlock Roxzone after purchasing?
- Download Roxzone from Garmin Connect IQ and open it on your watch.
- The locked screen displays your unique claim code (e.g.
RZ-12345678). - Go to the Store page, enter your claim code and email, then complete payment.
- On your watch, scroll down on the locked screen and tap Refresh License — the app unlocks immediately.
The license is tied to your claim code and email. If you reinstall the app and get a new claim code, follow the Restore License steps below.
Where do I find my claim code?
Open Roxzone on your Garmin. If the app isn't unlocked yet, the first screen shows your claim code. You can also find it by tapping Manual Unlock from the in-app menu on the locked screen.
I paid but the app still shows as locked — what do I do?
- Make sure your watch is connected to the Garmin Connect phone app.
- Scroll down on the locked screen and tap Refresh License.
If the issue persists, contact us with your claim code and payment email — we'll sort it manually.
Which Garmin watches are supported?
Roxzone is available for a wide range of Garmin watches that support Connect IQ 3.2 or later, including the Forerunner, Fenix, Epix, Venu, and Vivoactive series. Check the Garmin Connect IQ page for the full device compatibility list.
License & Restore
How do I restore my license after reinstalling the app?
- Open Roxzone on your watch — it will show a new claim code.
- Go to the Store → Restore tab.
- Enter the new claim code and the email address you used for your original purchase.
- Click Restore Previous License.
- Return to the watch, scroll down and tap Refresh License.
I got a new watch — can I transfer my license?
Yes. Install Roxzone on your new watch, open the app to get the new claim code, then follow the same Restore steps above using your original purchase email. The license moves to the new watch immediately.
I lost my claim code or forgot my purchase email — what do I do?
Your claim code is always visible on the locked app screen, or via Manual Unlock in the menu — so you can retrieve it any time the app is installed.
If you've forgotten your purchase email, check your inbox for a payment receipt — the email address on that receipt is the one tied to your license. If you're still stuck, reach out directly.
Workout Modes
What are the three workout modes?
Roxzone opens with a Select Mode screen. There are three modes:
- Full Hyrox — All 8 runs and all 8 stations in the official HYROX race order. Choose your race category, set your run pace, toggle Roxzone, and start.
- Partial Hyrox — A scaled-down race simulation. Pick 25%, 50%, or 75% and Roxzone automatically scales both run distance and station distances/reps, so you get a real race feel at a lower volume.
- Custom Hyrox — Build your own workout. Choose stations, set weights and distances/reps per station, reorder the sequence, control run placement, and set the run distance. Your settings are remembered for next time.
What race categories are supported?
Roxzone supports every official HYROX race category with the correct station weights pre-loaded:
- Men's Open / Women's Open
- Men's Pro / Women's Pro
- Men's Doubles / Women's Doubles
- Men's Pro Doubles / Women's Pro Doubles
- Mixed Doubles
In Custom Hyrox, you can use any of these categories as your base — or choose Custom Weights to set your own custom weights for each weighted station.
How does Partial Hyrox (Simulate) work?
Select Partial Hyrox, choose your race category, then pick Quarter (25%), Half (50%), or Three-quarter (75%).
Roxzone automatically scales the run distance and all station distances/reps to that percentage. Wall Ball reps are rounded to the nearest 5; all distances are rounded to the nearest 5m. Station weights remain at the full category weight — only volume is scaled.
Ideal for race-feel training sessions when you don't have time or energy for the full event.
Custom Hyrox — Setup & Configuration
How does Custom Hyrox work?
Select Custom Hyrox from the main menu. On the custom config screen you can:
- Toggle individual stations on or off.
- Select a Weight Category as your base (or choose Station Weights for fully custom weights).
- Open Edit Station Details to customise distances and reps for each station.
- Change the Run Distance (100m – 3000m in 100m steps).
- Enable/disable the Run Between Stations toggle.
- Reorder the station sequence.
Tap Continue to review your full workout before starting.
Can I set my own custom weights per station?
Yes. In the Custom Hyrox setup, under Weight Category, select Station Weights. You'll see the five weighted stations:
- Sled Push and Sled Pull — enter a whole-kg value (e.g. 120kg) using the digit picker.
- Farmers Carry, SB Lunges, and Wall Balls — enter a decimal-kg value (e.g. 24.5kg; Farmers Carry is shown as a per-hand weight in 2x format).
The digit-picker lets you scroll each digit (ones, tens, hundreds; decimal for supported stations) with the Up/Down buttons. Press Select to advance to the next digit; the last digit confirms and saves. Press Back on the first digit to cancel.
Your custom weights are saved and reloaded automatically every time you open Custom Hyrox.
Can I also customise station distances and reps?
Yes, via Edit Station Details in the Custom Hyrox config screen. For each station you can pick from preset options or choose Custom… to enter your own value:
- SkiErg and Rowing — distance in metres (presets: 500m – 2000m).
- Sled Push and Sled Pull — distance in metres (presets: 25m – 100m).
- Burpee Broad Jump — distance in metres (presets: 40m – 100m).
- Farmers Carry and SB Lunges — distance in metres (presets: 100m – 300m).
- Wall Balls — rep count (presets: 50 – 150 reps).
Choosing Custom… opens a scrollable fine-grained picker for each station type.
How does station reordering work?
In the Custom Hyrox config, tap Reorder to open the station sequence screen.
- Use Up/Down to move the cursor.
- Press Select to "grab" a station (highlighted in orange), then move it up or down again to reposition it. Press Select again to drop it.
- Press Back (long press, or short press when no item is grabbed) to confirm and save the order.
Your custom order is remembered and restored the next time you return to Custom Hyrox.
What does "Run Between Stations" do?
When Run Between Stations is ON (the default), Roxzone automatically
places a run segment before each station — reproducing the standard HYROX format of
Run → Station → Run → Station…
When turned OFF, you switch to free-placement mode. In the Reorder screen you can manually add RUN slots anywhere in the sequence, even having multiple stations in a row or multiple runs back-to-back, for fully flexible workouts.
Can I change the run distance?
Yes. In the Custom Hyrox config, tap Run Distance and choose any distance from 100m to 3000m in 100m increments. The same distance is used for every run leg in the workout. Your selected distance is saved as part of your custom setup for next time.
Will my Custom Hyrox setup be saved for next time?
Yes — fully. The app automatically saves your entire Custom Hyrox configuration to watch storage whenever you press Back or Continue in the custom setup screens. The next time you select Custom Hyrox, your previously configured stations, station order, weights, distances/reps, run distance, and weight category are all restored exactly as you left them.
Doing a Race-Day or Partial Hyrox workout in between does not overwrite your custom setup — it is stored in a separate slot.
Workout Settings
What is the Roxzone?
The Roxzone is a transition buffer that Roxzone tracks between your run and the next station, or between a station and the next run. In an official HYROX race, the Roxzone is the area between the running track and the functional fitness stations.
In Full Hyrox, you can toggle two separate Roxzone markers:
- Run → Station — Roxzone tracked after each run, before you start the station.
- Station → Run — Roxzone tracked after each station, before the next run.
In Custom Hyrox, there is a single Roxzone toggle that covers both directions.
When Roxzone is active, the screen switches to a distinct grey/neutral display so you can clearly see you're in transition — not yet in your run or station time.
How does Run Pace work?
Set your expected Run Pace (per km) in the setup screen. Roxzone uses this to calculate a target time for each run segment. The bezel progress arc gives you pace feedback — it fills blue while you're on pace, turns orange when you're close to your target time, and turns red once you've exceeded it.
Available paces range from 3:00/km to 9:45/km in 5-second increments.
What does the Warm-Up toggle do?
When Warm-Up is enabled (the default), the app opens a dedicated warm-up timer screen before the race/workout begins. Your warm-up time is recorded as a separate lap in Garmin Connect so it doesn't inflate your workout time. You can pause and resume the warm-up, or save/end it early.
If you prefer to start timing immediately, turn the Warm-Up toggle off.
What does the Touchscreen toggle do?
On touchscreen-capable Garmin watches, the Touchscreen toggle controls whether the screen responds to touch during the workout. Turning it off prevents accidental taps while running or doing stations. You can still advance laps and open the menu using the physical watch buttons.
Can I edit my setup right before starting?
Yes. The Review & Start screen (shown before every workout) lets you adjust Run Pace, Warm-Up, Touchscreen, and Roxzone settings without going all the way back through the setup menus. Tap Edit Setup to return to the full setup flow if you need to make deeper changes.
During the Workout
How do I advance between segments?
Press the Lap button on your watch to advance from a run to the next station, or from a station to the next run. Each press is recorded as a separate lap in Garmin Connect, labelled with the station or run name.
What happens if I press the lap button by mistake?
Roxzone has a one-level Undo Last Lap. If you accidentally advance, open the in-workout menu (long-press the action button or use the menu button) and select Undo Last Lap. Roxzone rolls back to the previous segment, restoring your start time, so your split is not affected.
What does the workout screen show?
The main workout screen displays:
- Current segment name (e.g. "Run 3" or "Wall Balls") with a station icon.
- Elapsed time for the current segment.
- Pace delta (ahead/behind your target run pace) during run segments.
- Total elapsed workout time.
- Heart rate with colour-coded HR zone indicator.
- A progress arc around the watch bezel showing how far through the total workout you are.
- A "next segment" indicator so you always know what's coming.
Swipe or press Up/Down to switch to the Stats screen, which shows a breakdown of completed segment times.
How are my results saved to Garmin Connect?
The workout is saved as a standard Garmin Training activity named "Roxzone". Each run and station is recorded as a separate lap. A custom Station developer field is included on each lap, so you can see station-by-station splits directly in Garmin Connect's lap breakdown view.
What is the looping behaviour on Custom Hyrox?
If you're using Custom Hyrox for a repeating circuit, the set counter increments automatically after each full pass through your selected stations. The current set number is shown on screen so you always know which loop you're on.
Garmin Connect & Data
Will the activity appear in Garmin Connect and Strava?
Yes. Once the workout is saved, it syncs to Garmin Connect as a Training/Cardio activity automatically when your watch connects to your phone. If you have Strava linked to Garmin Connect, the activity will also appear there.
Can I see my splits for each station?
Yes. In Garmin Connect, open the activity and scroll to the Laps section. Each run and station is a separate lap with its own time. The custom Station developer field names each lap (e.g. "SkiErg", "Run 1", "Wall Balls") for easy identification.
Troubleshooting
The app crashed or is showing an error — what should I do?
Try closing and reopening the app. If the issue persists, reinstall Roxzone from Connect IQ, then use the Restore tab to recover your license. If you're seeing a crash on a specific watch model, send us a message with your watch model and the steps to reproduce — we'll investigate promptly.
The license check shows "Check Connection" — is something wrong?
This appears when the watch can't reach the Roxzone license server. It's usually a temporary network issue. Make sure your watch is paired with your phone and your phone has an active internet connection, then tap Refresh License again. If you're already paid and licensed, the app stays unlocked even without a network connection — the "Check Connection" state only shows while trying to re-verify.
My custom setup didn't save — what happened?
Your Custom Hyrox configuration is saved automatically whenever you press Back or Continue from the custom setup screen. If you force-quit the app mid-setup without pressing either, the in-progress changes may not have been committed yet.
To be safe, always tap Continue (which reaches the Review screen) or press Back to exit the custom config before closing the app.
